Heat treatment gives you a concentrated treatment day: after we arrive, bringing the home to lethal temperature takes 15 minutes to 2 hours, then we hold the heat for about 3–5 hours. Most homeowners should plan for most of the day. Before choosing a plan, review whether heat treatment kills bed bugs, how to prepare for heat treatment, and how much bed bug treatment costs in Virginia, then get a Free Quote.
How the heat day runs
We start by bringing the home to lethal temperature after arrival. That step may take 15 minutes to 2 hours. Once the home reaches temperature, heat is held for about 3–5 hours. Because both parts of the day matter for planning, most homeowners should plan for most of the day. Use the preparation guide linked above to organize questions and access before the appointment.
Heat may not be the right fit for every situation. If an infestation appears early and you are a patient customer, Aprehend may suit you; it takes 30–45 days, and some activity continues for a while. When there are no visible signs, an independent K9 bed bug inspection can be a good first step for a possible early infestation. We do not run our own dogs: we refer K9 inspections to an independent third-party company that only inspects and does not sell treatment, helping keep the inspection unbiased. If bed bugs are confirmed, The Bed Bug Experts handles treatment.
What we see on the job
I explain the day in practical terms: after arrival, reaching lethal temperature can take 15 minutes to 2 hours, and heat is then held for about 3–5 hours. I discuss whether a heat day fits the situation and remind homeowners to plan for most of the day.
Do not use a fogger as the whole plan: the EPA says foggers should not be the sole source of bed bug control, and our guide explains why DIY bed bug treatments can fail.
