Life near Dulles
Hotels line the Dulles corridor, and plenty of people here fly for work. Those are just the conditions that let bed bugs ride home in a suitcase. Unpack luggage away from the bedroom, and see How to avoid bringing bed bugs home from travel. Hotel operators should start with Hotels.
Reston's cluster townhomes and condominium buildings share walls and sometimes shared spaces. Herndon's older single-family homes are usually simpler. Either way, we start by finding out which rooms are involved and who sleeps where.
Treatment options
- Heat treatment, $2.00/sq ft: It usually takes 15 minutes to 2 hours to reach temperature, and we hold it for about 3 to 5 hours. Most jobs are done in one day, and heat jobs also get an Aprehend application. Heat kills every life stage, eggs included.
- Aprehend, $0.75/sq ft: This is for early infestations, and only where someone sleeps in the room regularly. It takes 30 to 45 days, and you may see some activity during that time. A frequent traveler's bedroom that sits empty for long stretches may not be a good fit. It also leaves 3-month residual protection.
- Hybrid, $0.85/sq ft plus $500 per heated room: We heat the rooms with confirmed bugs and use Aprehend in the rest of the home. You can sleep in the treated room the same night.
If you'd like a K9 inspection, we refer you to an independent company that only does inspections.
A word on foggers
When a hotel set off foggers before our heat treatment, the job grew from one room to 13. Using OTC sprays and foggers can also void your warranty. Read Why DIY bed bug treatments fail.
Warranty and financing
Our 6-month warranty covers live bed bugs in treated areas when prep and aftercare are followed (guarantee). Wisetack financing runs from 3 months to 5 years, subject to approval. We offer same-day emergency service 7 days a week. We can't guarantee a specific response time, and we're not a 24/7 service.
